Due to continued growth a fantastic opportunity to join a vibrant Accountancy Practice in Derby has arisen. The role would suit someone who is either AAT Qualified, QBE or working towards. We are keen to hear from practice accountants at all levels as other opportunities are available.

Responsibilities

As the Accounts Semi- Senior you will be responsible for:

  • Preparation of Personal Tax Returns: Assist in preparing personal tax returns for a variety of clients, ensuring all work is accurate and meets compliance standards.
  • Prepare accounts: Assist in preparing small sole trader accounts from both manual and computerised records.
  • Client Interaction: Communicate with clients to collect necessary information, respond to queries, and keep them informed on the status of their tax returns.
  • Documentation and Records: Maintain organised and precise records, ensuring all documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible.
  • Support Senior Tax Professionals: Collaborate with senior team members on more complex tax issues and provide support in tax planning and advisory tasks.
  • Tax Compliance: Help ensure that all tax compliance deadlines are met and assist with the timely submission of returns to HMRC.
  • Assisting other members of the team by preparing management accounts and VAT returns.

Successful applicants will need experience in accounting gained from practice and be able to demonstrate good working knowledge of accounting systems.

In addition, you will have:

  • Previous experience working within an Accountancy Practice (minimum 2 years is ideal)
  • A background in tax preparation or similar.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with UK tax regulations, tax software, and strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Excel, are essential.
  • Organised and efficient
  • Good working experience with accounting software
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and oral
  • Team Player

Pay: £25,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
