Role overview:
- Preparing fixed fee claims to be uploaded onto CCMS system.
- Drafting exceptional Legal Aid bills to be assessed by the LAA.
- Preparing High Cost Case plans.
- Preparing bundles to accompany bills and submitting them to the LAA.
- Liaising with Counsel’s Chambers in order to obtain fee notes for Counsel.
- Liaising with experts in order to obtain possible missing disbursements.
- Liaising with fee earners and addressing any concerns which may be identified whilst preparing a bill.
- Uploading documents onto CCMS in a timely manner as per LAA requests.
- Responding to any online queries sent by the LAS.
- Providing advice to fee earners regarding current cost limitations.
- Dealing with any rejected claims.
- Preparing appeals for any reductions/rejections where appropriate.
What you will need as a Costs Draftsperson:
Successful applicants will need a minimum of one year’s costs drafting experience in a similar-type role, legal aid experience and knowledge of working with CCMS Software. In addition, you will have excellent communication skills and IT skills including Excel and be able to pick up new software systems.
