Working from home and flexible working hours are offered as standard, along with study support, if required. As standard this firm offer a 4-day working week working 34 hours a week – salary is FTE and not pro rata.

The role would suit someone who is AAT-qualified. We are keen to hear from practice accountants at all levels.

Salary:

Range between £26,000 to £32,000 – depending on experience

As the Accounts Semi Senior you will be responsible for:

  • Prepare financial statements and accounts for a range of clients, including sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory deadlines and regulatory requirements.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations, profit and loss accounts, and cash flow statements.
  • Assist with the preparation and filing of VAT returns, corporate tax returns, and personal tax returns.
  • Identify potential tax planning opportunities and escalate to senior team members.
  • Liaise directly with clients to collect financial information, resolve accounting queries, and ensure efficient delivery of services.
  • Provide clients with basic financial advice and recommendations based on their accounts and tax returns.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records using accounting software (such as Sage, QuickBooks, or Xero).
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity in financial records and reports.
  • Assist senior accountants and managers in various projects and advisory services.
  • Provide administrative support, including document preparation and reporting.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior team members.
  • Review the work of junior staff to ensure accuracy and compliance with firm standards.

Candidate Requirements:

Successful applicants will need experience in accounting gained from practice and be able to demonstrate good working knowledge of accounting systems.

  • AAT qualified ( highly preferred) QBE will also be considered
  • Previous experience working within practice
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting standards
  • Hands-on Experience working on clients across a wide variety of industries and turnovers
  • Organised and efficient
  • Good working experience with accounting software Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and Microsoft Excel.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail
  • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and also as part of a team
